HAND WASHING
|
One of the best preventive measures for stopping the spread of COVID and staying healthy is thorough hand washing. Yet, for many families living on the Navajo and Hopi Nations, doing so on a regular basis is a tremendous challenge due to the lack of running water in their homes.
It is estimated that over 30% of homes do not have indoor plumbing. Recognizing this, Red Feather has been focusing our efforts on teaching community members how to build their own hand washing systems. The hand washing stations are simple easy to construct do-it yourself designs (adopted from our awesome friends at LavaMaex) that are highly durable, provide hands free operation via a foot pump, and high-capacity use with up to 500 hand washing stations with one filling. |
