One of the most energy efficient, cost effective and safe ways to provide heat and cooling to homes is through a mini-split dual heating and cooling pump.
These units offer temperature control year-round, something that is vital for families on both the Hopi and Navajo reservations where desert summers are hot and winters can be bitterly cold.
Red Feather has been installing mini-split heating and cooling pumps for many years in both communities, helping elders reduce the need to chop and haul firewood as their primary source of heat and assisting those with respiratory conditions in heating their homes smoke-free.
Though the cost of a mini-splits is often covered by our weatherization and healthy heating funders, if a home does not have the required electrical panel, they cannot access the funds and receive a mini-split.
After hearing about the desperate need for heating options for Native elders, Red Feather supporters Larry and Anna Bennett were moved to address this gap in funding.
They seed-funded an electrical upgrade campaign to make sure no one who could benefit from a mini-split was left behind, on the condition that others matched their gift. Foothills Bank agreed to match part, and we need YOU to pitch in and help us match the remaining $2000.
Give now to double your impact with this matching campaign!
We all deserve healthy home heating this winter.
We couldn't do what we do without you! Thank you 🤗
