Past Projects

This is only a partial listing of Red Feather’s past projects. Our projects range from a one-day installation of wheelchair ramps to the construction of straw bale homes and communal facilities.

Honanie Home - September 2009

Hopi Reservation


Red Feather Development Group has finished building the fifth straw bale home on the Hopi reservation for Beverly Honanie and her daughter.

Home Renovations - June 2009

Northern Cheyenne Reservation


Without a straw bale home to build this year, Red Feather collaborated with Lame Deer High School, the Housing Improvement Program and the Workforce Investment Act office, to renovate homes.

Robledo Home - September 2008

Hopi Reservation


Hopi community members, along with Red Feather staff and volunteers, worked long days (and many evenings) to construct this new straw bale home on the eastern edge of Bacavi village, on Third Mesa.

Russell Home - June 2008

Northern Cheyenne Reservation


Despite the brutal weather, Winfield Russell’s home project was a great success.  The usual occurred: a beautiful home was built and volunteers gave selflessly to a common goal.
